A Celebration of Sapphic Writing and Art
Join us at Sapphic Seventh, a vibrant showcase of sapphic creativity and expression, where the boundaries of literature and art dissolve into an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience.
Sapphic Reading and Writing has been a six-week, practice-led course for sapphic writers and artists – drawing inspiration from the Women’s Art Register and supported by Lesbians Inc. – concluding with a deconstructed publication on the walls and spaces of Seventh Gallery.
This publication-in-space opens alongside the launch of a printed anthology featuring work from the program’s participants and facilitators. Spilling out from the white cube and the blank page in various unpublishable forms, participants’ intertwined works in the gallery explore notions such as:
queer time, space and architecture
failure, drafting and incompleteness
the complex role of archives, memory and visibility
sapphic love, friendship and fate; bodies and sex and senses
languages, labels, identities and (literary and artistic genres), among others – classifiable and unclassifiable
In short - a chaotic, messy and queer takeover of Seventh Gallery, making an ephemeral archive-in-space.
Participating Writers & Artists:
