Experience a series of community-centred programs inspired by art at the NGV
Art has the power to inspire conversation and connect people across many experiences and contexts. In 2024, Midsumma and NGV will come together again to co-present a series of community-centred programs inspired by the art and design at the NGV, exploring some of the diverse ideas and histories on display through tours and conversations. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

23 Jan + 24 Jan 1-3pm: NGV TEENS: QUEER HORIZONS CURATOR TOURS: NGV International, 180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne
This exhibition tour for Teens will highlight Triennial artists, artworks and ideas represented that are connected to LGBTIQA+ experiences and histories. The tour will be followed by an opportunity to gain insights into what it’s like to be a Curator at the NGV. Bring along your questions and join us after the tour for a Q&A session with the curators where you will have the opportunity to hear about their career paths and areas of expertise. All teens aged 13-18 are welcome. Snacks provided.

3 Feb 12pm: WURRDHA MARRA CURATOR’S TOUR: The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia
NGV Senior Curator Myles Russell-Cook will highlight the queer stories throughout the Wurrdha Marra exhibition, encouraging reflections and new perspectives to emerge. Myles Russell-Cook is the Senior Curator of Australian and First Nations Art at the National Gallery of Victoria.
3 Feb 1:30pm-3pm: TRIENNIAL TOUR: NGV International, 180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne
Midsumma and NGV come together to explore the 2023 NGV Triennial through the voices and perspectives of members of Melbourne’s queer community. Hear personal reflections on a selection of Triennial artists from creative practitioners, providing insights into works on display from diverse perspectives.
