Magic Makers

An exhibition by performing artist Sarah Ward (Yana Alana)

Moving through a year of grief, performing artist Sarah Ward (Yana Alana) picked up some textas and pastels and drew her friends and community. From pictures taken back stage, in kitchens, waiting for takeaway, on tour and in front yards. These are the queers and community that have brought Sarah comfort over this heart breaking year of grief. In an act of healing and love, these portraits encapsulate the spirit of each sitter with respect and honesty.

Exhibited in found frames on the walls of local bar Mamma Chen’s, this exhibition is a gift for the local Footscray community. All works are later given to the sitter.
