A new play in development written by award winning artist Sarah Carroll

"Fekei" is a traditional Rotuman sweet pudding, renowned for fostering community connections at cultural gatherings. Akanisi (AK), a proud lesbian in a happy relationship with Sam. Their rapid wlw romance leads to Sam's plan to propose on the anniversary of AK's grandpa's passing - the Hertekof - coinciding with their one-year relationship milestone. However, Sam is unaware that AK hasn't come out to her traditional church holding grandma.

"Fekei" delves into the complexities of queer romance and Pasifika identity, addressing authenticity, cultural tradition, and family acceptance through theatre, culture, tradition and the making and sharing of food. This development will result in a showing at the end of the week for an invited audience.
