NOMADS Cycling by the Bay
Join The Nomads for a leisurely, scenic off-road Bayside ridePresented by The NOMADS Outdoors Group Inc.
Melbourne boasts a treasure-chest of beautiful local vistas. The Nomads is a gay-friendly outdoor and social group providing an opportunity for people to take part in or lead a range of outdoor activities.
Join the riding group at Federation Square, ride to Port Melbourne for a coffee near Station Pier, follow the Bay to Milano's Restaurant – overlooking Brighton Beach – for lunch (total distance 16 km). After lunch, return by train from Brighton Beach Station or cycle a further 19 km to Mordialloc Station.
Starting from Federation Square we'll cycle along Southbank then follow the trail beside the 109 tram route to Port Melbourne where a pause for coffee will provide our first break. From there we follow the beachside trail via St Kilda and Elwood to Brighton, where we'll stop for lunch at Milanos Restaurant overlooking Brighton Beach. This is an easy 16 km ride entirely on cycle paths and quite flat. After lunch you can return via train from the nearby Brighton Beach Station, or continue for a further 19 km at a slightly faster pace via the beachside trail to Mordialloc. From Mordialloc Railway Station you can return via train. Some leisure cycling experience is advisable. Bookings are required but there's a limit of 20 cyclists, so it's best to book early to ensure you don't miss out!
A small group of Nomads cycle most Fridays around metropolitan Melbourne, and occasionally in regional Victoria. Email [email protected] for further information about The Nomads or to join the cycling group.
Free event but booking required.
