Dolly Diamond's 15 Year Anniversary Gala
"Because I'm worth it!"
Duration: 140 mins
In 2018, Dolly Diamond celebrates 15 years of performing in Melbourne's world-famous LGBTIQ arts festival. And this year Dolly is delighted to join forces with the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus, Footscray-Yarraville City Band and the Melbourne Rainbow Band for a celebration of song, laughter and Pride in DOLLY DIAMOND'S 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY GALA at the Athenaeum Theatre.
Dolly is also thrilled to be bringing back together some very special guests for this milestone event. Reuniting members of Australia's favourite a'cappella vocal group for the first time in two decades, Dolly Diamond proudly welcomes back THE PHONES for a one-off reunion!
Musical and comedy greats THE PHONES first formed in 1978 and featured an array of talented singers over the years until the group went their separate ways in 1990. Dolly Diamond is honoured to be welcoming back past members of THE PHONES including Reg Ellery, Mark Jones, Russell 'Rusty' Berther, and John Fleming for this special reunion. THE PHONES were the darlings of Australian TV and comedy cabaret, playing festivals, comedy rooms and major stages around the nation for over a decade. They are excited to be reuniting and joining Dolly Diamond on stage this Midsumma.
Each of these musical organisations and guest artists has spent years building community-enhancing music programs and philosophies that align with what Dolly Diamond holds dear: Inclusion, Participation and Diversity. These champions of the music community are working with Dolly to create a show that will inspire and celebrate us all.
This line-up of talented musicians and ensembles will be showcased on the Athenaeum Theatre stage in this milestone event that not only celebrates 15 years of hard work for Dolly Diamond but also Pride and diversity through music.
Supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants Program.
