Summer Placements

Midsumma Festival is Victoria's premier queer arts and cultural Festival, for and by LGBTIQ communities.

MIDSUMMA ARTS & CULTURE FESTIVAL 2017Voluntary summer work placements available now

In 2017 Midsumma celebrates 30 years of festivals championing diversity, cultivating queer perspectives and creating experiences that flip the status quo – all made possible through our annual open access Festival.

Highlights of the Festival each year include the festival's opening event Carnival, attracting over 110,000 to Alexandra Gardens each year and Midsumma Pride March in late January.

The Festival is delivered through a team of professional arts workers and event managers working alongside a dedicated team of volunteers.

The Festival offers opportunities for voluntary summer work placements in a range of areas for people wanting the opportunity to further develop their skills in a professional environment that is vibrant, supportive and fun. Help deliver one of Australia's greatest LGBTIQ events and gain valuable work experience and networks at the same time.

Summer work placements can be either full time or part time spanning the festival delivery period from November this year through to early February 2017. Positions are available now for people with specific interest in Production, Programming and Event Management, PR and Arts Administration. Short term voluntary work placements are often the perfect opportunity for University students to gain valuable experience on a large scale event during university breaks, but these are open to anyone with the right interest and commitment.

The full program of Midsumma events for 2017 will be launched on 16 November 2016, with 120 events across approximately 80 venues spanning visual outdoor special events, theatre, dance, cabaret, film, parties, sports events, talks and social events. The festival will open on Sunday 15 January and run for 22 days, finishing on 5 February 2017.

If interested in taking up this opportunity, contact the Festival now via [email protected] for more information.
