Midsumma's Social Media Policy

For the purposes of this policy, Social Media includes all internet-based publishing technologies. Forms of Social Media include, but are not limited to, social or business networking sites (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn), video and/or photo sharing websites (e.g. YouTube, Instagram), business and personal blogs, micro-blogs (e.g. Twitter), chat rooms and forums.

This policy applies to all users of Midsumma Social Media including staff members, our partners, those who attend our events and other members of the public. If you use our Social Media, you agree that you will comply with this policy (as updated from time to time).

This policy works in tandem with our Anti-Discrimination Policy, which you can view here.

Midsumma expects its Social Media users to:

  • Act with and maintain a high standard of integrity
  • Exercise fairness, inclusiveness, respect, equality, courtesy, consideration and sensitivity in dealing with other users of Midsumma Social Media
  • Abide by relevant social media platform terms and conditions
  • Act in accordance with all relevant laws

Midsumma expects its users of Social Media to ensure they do not communicate on Social Media any:

  • Confidential Information relating to any individual or organisation
  • Obscene, offensive, malicious or hostile language
  • Material that may incite hatred or be seen as homophobic, racist, sexist, or discriminatory
  • Potentially harmful or inappropriate advice
  • Unapproved fundraising activity
  • Material that violates the privacy or publicity rights of another party
  • Information (regardless of whether it is confidential or public knowledge), about any individual or organisation without their prior authorisation or approval to do so
  • Material that is intended to (or could possibly) cause insult, offence, intimidation or humiliation to any individual or organisation including discriminatory, abusive and harassing content
  • Content including comments or messages that could be considered as spam
  • Material that is defamatory or could negatively affect the image, reputation, or viability of any individual or organisation

What will we do if you are found to have infringed this Social Media policy?

If you breach this policy, we reserve the right to hide or delete content, block or restrict your profile and/or delete your account. We may also report your conduct to the social media platform, police or other authorities. We reserve the right to take legal action against you if you cause any loss or damage to our owners, staff members, partners or suppliers.
