Nominated for "Best Performer" and "Best Production" in Independent theatre in the 2023 Green Room Awards.
Ever since she was a little girl, artist and performer Jessie Ngaio fantasised about killing herself. These suicidal impulses finally came to a head in her early 30s, when she stood by the rails in a subway station in New York City, listening to the rush of an oncoming train, and decided to end her life.
Returning from a successful Melbourne Fringe run and featuring original music, “Oh Yuck, It’s Me” combines clown, performance art, original musical comedy, and beautifully hand painted set design. Ngaio’s other work includes Stickybeak (Best Comedy, 2023 Melbourne Fringe), Slutmonster and Friends (Highly Commended in Comedy, 2012 Melbourne Fringe) and as part of the Butoh productions, Colour-Fool and Odd Hours (which were nominated for 2021 Green Room Awards), and more recently ButohBar OUT of ORDER.
"I felt really lucky to see this show (...) It really was magic."
