Our Valued Partners

Partner With Midsumma

Midsumma exists because LGBTQIA+ communities, artists, and allies have come together to create space, visibility, and belonging. Each year, we raise approximately 70% of our funding through partnerships and private support, making our Festival and year-round programs possible. We partner with organisations who believe in the power of culture to create change, who are committed to inclusion, equity, and supporting LGBTQIA+ communities not just in words, but through action. Partnering with Midsumma is an opportunity to stand alongside artists and communities, to help create safe and celebratory spaces, and to contribute to a future where LGBTQIA+ voices are seen, heard, and valued.

We invite values-aligned organisations to partner with us and be part of shaping one of Australia’s most significant queer cultural platforms.

Partnerships at Midsumma – FAQs

Midsumma is an independent not-for-profit organisation. Approximately 70% of our annual funding must be raised through private donations, philanthropy, and partnerships.

Partnerships make it possible for us to:

  • Deliver the Midsumma Festival
  • Support LGBTQIA+ artists
  • Provide free and low-cost events
  • Deliver year-round community programs

Without partnerships, Midsumma could not operate at its current scale or accessibility.

No.

Midsumma retains full independence over artistic programming, artist selection, and organisational decisions. Partners do not influence creative or curatorial outcomes.

All partners undergo a structured due diligence and governance process. This includes assessing:

  • Alignment with our values
  • Commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion
  • Community impact
  • Organisational and reputational risk

We partner with organisations that demonstrate:

  • Commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion and equality
  • Ethical and responsible business practices
  • Genuine support for LGBTQIA+ arts and communities

Partnerships must provide meaningful benefit to our communities.

We take concerns seriously.

Partnerships are reviewed regularly and may be reassessed if issues arise. Midsumma has declined or ended partnerships in the past where alignment was not maintained.

No.

Partnerships support specific shared outcomes. They do not represent endorsement of all activities or positions of a partner organisation.

Yes.

We publicly acknowledge our partners and apply formal governance and review processes to all partnerships.

We welcome respectful feedback and enquiries.
